Buveinė ir augimo laikas:

Deconic Phillips grows on swampy and damp soil, on dead grasses, less often on sedge (Cyperaceae) and rushes (Juncaceae), even more rarely on other herbaceous plants from July to November (Western Europe). The worldwide distribution has not yet been elucidated. On the Karelian Isthmus, according to our observations, it grows on the thin branches of several deciduous trees and shrubs from the end of September to January (in a warm winter – in a thaw) and sometimes revives in April.

Aprašymas:

Cap 0,3-1 cm in diameter, slightly spherical, then almost flat, rounded, in maturity similar to a human kidney, from slightly velvety to smooth, hygrophanous, sometimes with small radial folds, with a furrowed edge, not oily, from beige to reddish brownish-gray, often with a flesh tint (in a dry state – more faded). The plates are rare, light or pinkish-beige, darkening with age.

Stalk rudimentary, first central, then eccentric, reddish-beige or brown (darker than the cap). Spores are light purple-brown.

Dvikovos:

Melanotus caricicola (Melanotus cariciola) – with large spores, gelatinous cuticle and habitat (on sedge). Melanotus horizontalis (Melanotus horizontalis) – a very similar species, darker in color, grows on willow bark, always in damp places.
